What is Hard Line?
The cable connecting users to all CSI based Systems is the key. It is the hard line, which must function without failure in a wide range of harsh environments (both physical and chemical) and survive repeatedly if the System is to be considered reliable - One that can be trusted to protect the safety of its users.
WHAT MAKES IT TOUGH?
The custom-made signal cable is coated with thermoplastic rubber, which is inherently resistant to a wide variety of oils, solvents and chemicals, including Skydrol. High polar fluids such as alcohol's, ketones, glycol's, esters and aqueous solutions of acids, salts and bases have little affect on this cover.
Thermoplastic Rubber (TPR) has excellent abrasion properties. It is flexible at low temperatures and is tear resistant. The coating houses two twisted wire pairs, shielded and coated, each with individual ground wires, plus third shield for good measure with its own ground wire plus a back-up. All this to eliminate the possibility of electro-magnetic, RF or electrical interference affecting communication at the most critical time; while you are using the System.
AND STRONG?
The hard line has a tensile strength of 164lbs., but is lightweight (250ft of cable with connectors weighs less than 12 lbs.) and is available in any length up to 1500 feet.
WHAT ABOUT THE CONNECTORS
The cable connectors are locking stainless steel military connectors with gold plated contacts built to withstand rugged use in harsh environments. All connectors are totally waterproof.
NO SIGNAL LOSS
Because all contacts are gold plated, different lengths of cable can be joined together for the maximum distance of 1500' (500 metres) with minimal signal loss. Cables can be custom ordered to any length including a single 1500' (500 metres) length.
ALTERNATE CABLE COATING
Geolast Communication Cable has an alternative cable coating. The immersion of the standard cable in crude oil for extended periods may soften the coating over time and could reduce its effective operating life. The Alternate Coating, Geolast, should be substituted for this application.
Cables coated with Geolast have the same physical and electrical qualities as standard cables so damage to cable coating has absolutely no effect on the reliability or quality of communication. For more information contact us.
CABLE ACCESSORIES
MIC-MUTE SWITCH
Cable with Mic-Mute Switch allows an operator to switch off the microphone and maintain listening contact with all people connected to the System.
This is to eliminate possible confusion during essential contact with key people not connected to the Communication System .

LINE MANAGEMENT FOR YOUR HARD LINE SYSTEM
THE UMBILICAL COVER
Developed in conjunction with SPEC Rescue International, the Umbilical Cover is designed to contain a breathing airline, a communication cable and a safety line, creating a single entrant umbilical for easy line management during a confined space rescue operation.
The Airline and Communication cable run internally while the safety rope can run either inside the cover or be attached to the outside by Velcro straps. This enables the safety line to be quickly removed and used in a retrieval or rescue situation.
Constructed of an abrasion resistant flexible Nylon webbing with a heavy duty zipper running its total length, an Umbilical can be quickly assembled and easily disassembled, for cleaning and inspection. The cover is resistant to a wide range of chemicals and is machine washable, and is available in 50 and 100 foot lengths, part numbers 0103-05-050, 0103-05-100 respectively.
CABLE/HOSE WRAP
The purpose of Cable/hose wrap is to join an airline and the communication cable together to become a single, more manageable unit and reducing the possibility of snagging or entanglement.
